Important Summer Information
|
|
|
Summer
Schedule Changes
In an effort to be as flexible
as possible for our families, we are able to accomodate any changes
thoughout the summer months with a 2 week advance notice in writing via email. All changes must be sent via email to EDS-Office@comcast.net or mailed to
EDS, 2589 Boyce Plaza Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241. You will
receive a confirmation of your change from our office. Please do not assume we have made your schedule
change unless you receive a confirmation from our office.
Please do not ask us to make exceptions. We really
do purchase materials and schedule staff over 2 weeks in advance for
your child's camp space.
|
|
New Sunscreen Policy!
This summer we are implemeenting
a new sunscreen policy. We are
asking that all campers bring in a bottle of spray sunscreen in one of the following brands: Aveeno Active Naturals Continuous Protection SPF
50 Sunblock Spray or Coppertone Water Babies Spray SPF 50. We have researched different brands of spray sun
protection and have found these brands to be highly-rated and very
gentle to all skin types. If
your child cannot use these brands due to allergy, we will, of course,
apply another brand per your instructions.
This new policy will reduce the amount of time it takes
each day to apply sunscreen and prepare for the sun. Thank
you for your understanding and help! Less prep time means more
fun in the sun!
|
|
Required
Paperwork
Please return all emergency contact forms with your tuition check!
We are required by the state to have these forms on file BEFORE
your child begins camp.
|
|
Questions?
Please email us with any
questions at EDS-Office@comcast.net. You may
also call our administrative office at (412) 221-1980 with any
questions or concerns.
|
What to Bring Daily
(Please put names on all items
brought from home)
1. Plastic
Bag lunch and drink (lunches cannot be refrigerated or heated)
Please pack your child's lunch in a Ziploc bag or plastic
grocery bag. Paper bags too
often break. If you have not
pre-registered for the camp lunch program and would like to, please click here to register via
email.
2. Water Bottle: Please write name in
permanent marker.
3. Sunscreen: Please send a spray bottle of sunscreen only in one of the following brands: Aveeno Active Naturals Continuous Protection SPF
50 Sunblock Spray or Coppertone Water Babies Spray SPF 50 on your child's first day of camp. We will keep these bottles for your
child throughout the summer.
Please apply sunscreen to your child at home before he arrives
at camp each day. We will
reapply sunscreen after lunch if necessary. Please let us know if your child is
particularly fair and requires extra sunscreen daily.
Optional items: Please write
name in permanent marker on any item brought from home. However, we discourage bringing games
and toys from home. They are
easily lost or misplaced. We
cannot be responsible for these items!
Please DO NOT bring cell phones, bikes, roller blades, scooters
or Heelies.
|
Ice
Cream Mondays!
The
sound of summer! The ice cream
truck will be visiting summer camp every week throughout the
summer. If you would like your
child to purchase a treat, you may sign up in the morning as you sign
in. A $2 charge per treat will appear
on your next statement.
|
Camp Lunches
Each
day of the week a different lunch will be offered at camp. These lunches were detailed on the
registration form and require that you pre-register in order for your
child to participate in them. The
price is $4 per day and the schedule is as follows:
Tuesday: Chicken
Strips
Wednesday: PB &
J
Drinks are included. All lunches except pizza include a
side dish. If you have not pre-registered for lunches and
would like to, please click here
to register via email or call (412) 221-1980.
Please remember that if your child is scheduled
to go on the field trip on a day of the week where he/she is scheduled
to have a camp lunch, you will not be charged for that day and you will
have to pack your child a plastic bag lunch for the field trip. (This does not apply to
Wednesday Pool trips. On Wednesdays, we eat lunch prior to
leaving for the pool, so your child may still eat the camp lunch if you
ordered it.)
|
Cooking
Classes and Food Allergies
All campers will
have the opportunity to take part in some simple assembly-type cooking
classes (i.e. making 'smores, trail mix, nachos). While we
do not include any items that contain nuts or nut oils, some products
may carry a nut warning on the label (i.e. plain M&M's carry a
nut warning because they are made in a factory where nuts are present)
Therefore, if
your child is highly allergic to nuts and cannot have any products that
even have a warning on the label that they are manufactured in a plant
where nuts are present, please let us know and your child may have
another kind of snack while the other children are eating their
creations. Thank you!
|
|
T-Shirt
Distribution
We
realize that many of you have field trip and/or swim T-shirts at home
from past summers. Therefore, we will not bill for trip T-shirts until
the day of the swim or field trip on which your child will be going. If your child does not have the
appropriate shirt or if he forgets to wear it, he will be given one,
and your account will be charged on the day of the trip.
