It's
Dino-Week in K-Plus!
For
the next two weeks in K-Plus we will take a giant step back in
time to explore the prehistoric world of dinosaurs! Large
dinos-small dinos-we'll learn all about them! We'll enjoy several
dinosaur story books, learn how to do the Dinosaur Stomp and
the Dino Ditty,
and enjoy the Count-a-saurus
Rhyme Song! Our "dino-mite" creations
will include: magic color scratch dinos, colorful dinosaur
suncatchers, sticker books, decorated cardboard dinosaur
shapes and dinosaur scenes made with our dinosaur stencils.
In
Language Arts we
will introduce the word families -un
and -ut and
learn our new sight words for the week - with, they and he. We'll
enjoy several dinosaur stories including - The Magic School Bus in the
Time of Dinosaurs and If the Dinosaurs Came Back.
Later in the week we'll play Toss and Build and Boggle Junior -
two super games that will help us practice our word building skills!
Next
week in Math, we
will work on the concept of joining two groups to make a
new group. We'll use our counting bears and the number
balance to help us make different groups! We'll also play Money Bingo
and assemble a giant dinosaur floor puzzle. Later in the week
we'll review our time telling as we revisit a favorite story
from earlier in the school year - Telling Time With Mama Cat. We'll
all help Mama cat schedule her very busy day by using the
interactive clock in the book.
In our
Writing center, we
will practice writing our sight words as we play Sight Word Bingo and
create happy heart cut-outs using our new and previous sight
words. Our journal writing this week will challenge us to use our
imaginations to write about what could happen if the dinosaurs
returned. We will also use paint chip samples as a fun
way to build words using the word families we have learned so
far.
