Let's Go Camping!
 Next
week in K-Plus we will celebrate camping and the great
outdoors! We'll learn about the fun things you can
enjoy while camping - like fishing, toasting marshmallows around
a campfire, and hiking. Perhaps we'll even share our own camping
stories! We will also learn some fun camping songs and
discuss important ways to be safe when
exploring the great outdoors. During the week we will have
fun creating a classroom owl bulletin board, decorate
a camp-out fan, make adorable camping raccoon magnets, and
create colorful camping sticker scenes. We will also make our
own colorful "All
About Camping" poster - It will show our
favorite camping activity, our favorite camping food, and lots more!
 In
Language Arts, we will
read Camping
Catastrophe, a fun adventure about Freddy's first
overnight camping trip in the great outdoors. Freddy and his dad -along
with Freddy's best friend Robbie encounter all kinds of camping
predicaments during their outdoor adventure. But there isn't a problem
they can't solve! During the week we will also write about our
favorite camping catastrophe from the book! Our new sight words
for the week - long,
has, and
help..
 In
Math, we will work on
adding and subtracting by using familiar items to create
addition and subtraction problems for each other to solve.
We'll also play group math games that encourage team work and
strengthen our subtraction skills - we'll take turns drawing
a picture story for each subtraction problem and see who can
solve it first! Later in the week we will also
enjoy the fast-paced game, Slamwich! We'll
be testing our memory and using quick motor skills as we try to
build silly slamwiches before the
muncher comes
along and steals all the cards!
 In our
Writing center, we
will practice our sight words using our magnetic letters and
dry erase boards. We will also choose words from a "camping" word
bank to create simple sentences about camping and write about our
favorite camping adventure in our journals. We will also have fun
drawing pictures of things we would take on our very own camping trip!
