I Love America Week!
 Next
week in K-Plus we will salute our country with lots
of patriotic pride and celebration! We
will learn some "America
facts" like - why we celebrate the Fourth of July with
fireworks and why Memorial Day is so special to America. We
will also learn about the American Flag and other symbols of America.
During the week we will have fun learning a few patriotic songs,
create our own USA necklace, make a patriotic door hanger and a
colorful suncatcher, and create a patriotic fuzzy magnet. Be sure
to look for all of our Americana
creations!
 In
Language Arts, we will
read "A
is for America" and create our own
American flag. We will also learn a few simple American Tradition
words such as Liberty
Bell, White
House and Bald
Eagle. We'll practice matching our new words to pictures of
these great American symbols. During the week we will also
play Scrabble
Junior to practice our word building
skills and enjoy Animal
Soup
- a fun, fast- paced game that strengthens both
our visual matching and simple logic skills. Our new sight words
for the week will be - good,
going, and
by.
  In
Math, it's time to review
the concept of greater than and less than! We'll play team games
that have the children compare two numbers and decide which is
greater than or less than. Then - our K-Plus puppets
will help us create math stories that illustrate the
concept of more or less. During the week we will also
enjoy playing "Leaping
Lizards" - a fun counting game!
 In our
Writing center, we
will practice our sight words, learn to write the names of
our family members, and create our own special family
pictures. Our journal writing will include
simple sentences telling why we love America and we will also
have fun creating original America
pictures and stories.
