It's Family Vacation Week!
Next week in K-Plus it's
all about those fun, family vacations we all enjoy! Whether it
be a day at the beach, a week outdoors in the mountains, or a fun
day at an amusement park - next week we will celebrate our
special family vacations! During the week, we will share
memories of our favorite vacations, sing several vacation
songs, and learn a fingerplay about seashells! We
will also make magic color scratch postcards, design a tropical
sun visor, create "day at the beach" sticker scenes, and
make a special "Surf's
Up" magnet.
In
Language Arts, we will
read The
Night Before Summer Vacation, a fun adventure
about a little girl and her family getting ready to go on
vacation. Will they remember to pack everything or will something very
important be overlooked? We will also enjoy a fun Picture/Sentence
Activity - we'll take turns choosing the simple sentence that best
describes a picture. Later in the week we'll listen to our Alphabet Sound Tracks CD
and play What's
Gnu?
- a simple word building game. Our new sight words for the
week will be - how,
house and
dad.
In Math, we
will review measuring
and the calendar.
At our measuring station we will
practice measuring everything from blocks to bears! We will also choose
items in our classroom to measure and play the How Tall Am I?
game! During the week we will review the months of the year and
play a fun team game to see who can answer questions like - What month comes after
October? - What
month is two months after December? Then, we'll all have
fun remembering some of the fun things that happened in each
month of our K-Plus year!
In our
Writing center, we
will practice our new sight words with our dry erase boards, draw
a picture of our favorite summer vacation - then write a few sentences
about our picture. We will also have great fun
writing our own creative ending to a simple storystarter!
