All About Storytelling!
 Next
week in K-Plus we will celebrate the art of
storytelling! We'll share our favorite stories with our
classmates, listen to some of our favorite fairytales, create a
silly group story, and even write our own
stories. During the week we will have fun designing our own
fairytale pop-up sticker scenes, and use fairytale stencils to
create original artwork. We will also be very
busy making special gifts for Mom, but that's a
secret...you'll just have to wait until Mother's Day!
 In Language
Arts, we will continue to observe our K-Plus Caterpillars
and we will have fun creating our own Very Hungry Caterpillar mini
book! We will also read Paul Bunyan, a tall-tale
retold by Steven Kellogg. This legendary tale about America's finest,
fastest, and funniest tall-tale hero is sure to be a
favorite! During the week we will also play Rat-A-Tat-Cat - a
fun way to work on our memory skills! Our new sight words for the
week are water,
made and home.
 In Math,
we will continue our review of addition and subtraction. We
will construct our own number line and then use it to solve simple
addition problems, We will also use our number flashcards to
play a fun "Around the World" math game
and practice our number skills with an enjoyable game of
Toss Three.
 In our
Writing center, we
will practice writing our new sight words for the week and
draw pictures and sentences about the storybook Paul Bunyan. Using
words from a word bank - we will also write about our favorite
story and then share it with our classmates. Later in the week we
will create pictures and stories about what we think we'd find at
the end of a rainbow!
